Frequently Asked Questions
What is Rose Island Originals?
Rose Island Originals is a creative gathering place in Sebewaing, Michigan, where you can come together, try something new, make a little mess, and leave with something you're proud to say you made.
We offer instructor-guided DIY workshops, special events, private parties, family-friendly creative experiences, take-home DIY kits, handmade décor, personalized gifts, and more.
Our projects change throughout the year, so there's almost always something new to create!
I'm not creative. Can I really do this?
Absolutely! In fact, you're exactly who we're here for.
You don't need to be artistic, crafty, or know what you're doing before you arrive. We'll provide the materials, instruction, encouragement, and help you need along the way.
There is no expectation of perfection here. Make it yours, try something new, and have fun with it.
We'll handle the supplies and the mess—you just come create.
How do I register for a workshop?
Registration is easy! Find the workshop you'd like to attend on our website, choose your project and any available options, and complete your registration online.
Your seat is reserved once registration and payment are complete.
Because many of our projects are prepared specifically for each guest, registration may close several days before an event. If you've got your eye on something, don't wait too long!
Do I need to bring anything to a workshop?
Just yourself—and maybe a friend!
We'll have your project, supplies, tools, and everything you need ready when you arrive. You're also welcome to bring drinks and snacks to enjoy while you create.
Some projects can get a little messy, so dress comfortably in something you won't mind crafting in.
Most importantly, come ready to have fun. We'll take care of the rest.
Can we bring food or drinks?
You're welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks to enjoy during your workshop or private event. For private gatherings, feel free to make it part of the celebration—bring your favorites, gather around the table, and make yourself at home.
For us, it's about more than finishing a project. It's about slowing down, creating something with your hands, and spending time together.
What happens if I can't attend a workshop?
For this one, I want the FAQ to point people toward your policy rather than duplicating all the rules here.

We know life happens and plans sometimes change!
Because workshop materials and projects are prepared in advance, cancellations and changes are handled according to our cancellation policy.
If something comes up, please contact us as soon as possible at roseislandoriginals@gmail.com and we'll let you know what options may be available.
Please see our Terms of Service for complete cancellation and workshop policies.
Can children attend workshops?
Absolutely—when the project is a good fit!
We offer family-friendly workshops, kids' projects, special events, and creative experiences designed specifically with younger makers in mind.
Age recommendations may vary depending on the project, tools, and materials being used, so check the individual workshop description before registering.
Not sure if a project is right for your child? Reach out—we're happy to help you decide.
Do you offer private parties and group events?
Yes! Private events are one of our favorite ways to create together.
We host birthdays, girls' nights, family gatherings, team events, staff outings, fundraisers, clubs, celebrations, and other group get-togethers.
We'll help you choose a project and plan the details for your group. Visit our Private Events page to learn more and send us an inquiry.
How many people do I need for a private event?
Private events generally require a minimum of 8 paid participants.
Have a smaller group? Don't count yourself out! Our public workshops are a great option for smaller groups who still want to create together.
For larger groups, mobile events, fundraisers, or something a little outside the box, send us an inquiry and tell us what you have in mind.
What kinds of projects can we choose for a private event?
One of the best parts of planning a private event is choosing something that feels right for your group.
Project options may include wood signs and home décor, sola wood flowers, resin and crushed glass, seasonal projects, hat burning, kids' crafts, and other creative experiences.
Not sure what everyone will enjoy? That's okay—we're happy to help you choose. Tell us a little about your group, your occasion, and what you have in mind, and we'll help find a project that brings everyone together.
Do you offer take-home DIY kits?
Yes! Creativity doesn't have to happen only in our studio.
Select projects are available as DIY kits so you can create at home, gather some friends for your own craft night, or give someone a creative experience as a gift.
Our kit selection changes throughout the year, so check the DIY Projects section of our website to see what's currently available.
Can you make custom or personalized items?
Absolutely. We love making things personal.
Many of our handmade pieces and DIY projects can be customized with names, dates, colors, wording, or other special details.
Have an idea you don't see on the website? Reach out and tell us about it. We can't promise every idea will be possible, but we're always happy to see what we can create together.
How long will my order take?
Because many of our items are made or personalized just for you, turnaround times can vary depending on the project and time of year.
Current processing information will be listed with the product whenever possible. During busy seasons, custom and handmade orders may require a little extra time.
Need something by a certain date? Contact us before ordering and we'll let you know if we can make it happen.
Do you ship?
Yes! Many Rose Island Originals products and DIY kits can be shipped within the United States.
Shipping availability and rates will be shown at checkout for eligible products. Some oversized, fragile, or specialty items may be available for local pickup only.
We're always happy to help if you're unsure whether something can make its way to you.
